Getting a dream bed…

Most parents will know that the night you move your growing baby from their cot to a bed is a date marking occasion.

I remember the night we moved the twins out of their cages into beds with no bars.  The sound of tiny footsteps bounced above our heads until the moon was high in the sky.  In the morning we found games, books, toys piled high in the room, and two troublesome toddlers cosying up in one bed together.

But the memory of moving Libby-sue from her cot into her bed is very different.

I think my face was streaked with tears as I placed her under the duvet.  I remember closing the door silently as she struggled to sleep.  We heard no footsteps above our head that evening, only the soft whimpers of a baby trying to make sense of her situation.

We took Libby-Sue out of her cot when she had surgery for Hip Dysplasia and was placed in a cast that was too large to fit between the bars.  Not to mention too heavy to lift in and out.

She was only 19 months old and sleeping in a big girls bed because circumstance demanded it.

She didn’t walk till she was two and a half, it has never occurred to her to leave her bed once she has been settled in it.

Spica casts have a lot to answer for.

So the transition from toddler bed to a really big girl bed has been an event I wanted to make more of a fuss of.

And I wanted the perfect bed.

Libby-Sue starts school in Autumn and probably should have come out of her toddler bed an age ago.  However I am in no hurry to see this child grow up and liked putting my baby to bed in what was once her cot.

Until I found the perfect bed.

I have searched the internet for a bed that my little girl can grow up in.  One that can offer fun for now, sophistication for her later years and safety for my kid who breaks on occasion.

She wanted a bed where she could sleep up high, a bed that princesses aspire to, and ideally one that had a spare for if Queen Elsa came to play.

At one point I thought she may graduate from high school and come home and curl up in her teeny tiny bed.

But then the search ended, when in my Facebook feed a dream bed appeared.

Literally.

With room for two, an elegant design, and super safe stairs to climb into dreamland both our desires were catered for.

Plus, it looked fantastic.

I wrote to the designers, told them about Libby-Sue, explained how the bed looked perfect and I may have squealed a little when we were offered one for a review.

LIbby is a lucky lady.

Dulex came in last month and helped create a bedroom Belle would be proud to rest her eyes in.

All that was needed was the bed.

bedLast night it came.

I have never seen a child so excited to get to bed.

It is perfect.  The stairs mean I can sleep soundly at night knowing she isn’t going to tumble from a ladder in the dark. The stairs offer stability and a secret cubby hole in which to play.

She loves it.

The beds are incredible and come in a range of styles, including beds with playhouses and delux Princess beds, have a look at the whole site here.

Even better, when the bed is delievered it is also assembled for you!  Which was a huge relief for Libby-Sue as she worried I was going to do it….

Kid’s Dreambeds are a small business who have been fantastically kind to us, and I can only offer thanks.  The beds are the highest quality and the stuff kids dream about.

If only they did a grown up version…..
