The magic of Disney is strong in our home.  We are huge fans of Mickey and his friends, and put our pennies away to take more trips to Eurodisney in the future.

However, we also plan to see our cartoon friends in the UK this year, on ice.

That’s right, Disney on Ice is celebrating 100 years of magic.

It looks fantastic,  the show brings together 65 of Disney’s unforgettable characters from 18 childhood stories.  The ice rink will come alive with Mickey Mouse, his beau Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald Duck, Jiminy Cricket, Pinocchio and all the Disney Princesses. The modern-day characters will also be joining in the fun, you can see the Lion King; Mulan; and characters from Disney/Pixar’s Finding Nemo, The Incredibles, and Toy Story films take to the ice in a skating spectacle.

The kids are already counting down the days….  Show your offspring this video and you will have the pleasure of similar levels of excitement in your home….

When to go and where to stay?

The tour kicks off in Glasgow on the 26th of August at the Braehead Arena, where it runs until October 5th.  To make the trip even more exciting you can book a stay at the Holiday Inn by Glasgow Airport, and sample more of the culture and beauty of Scotland.

If Scotland is a wee bit too far for you to travel to see Mickey, then you can catch the magic in Manchester.  The princesses will be taking to the stage on the 15th to the 19th of October.  Again, you can find quality local accommodation at the Manchester Crown Plaza, which will make your trip to the theatre that little bit more special when you return back to the luxury of a hotel suite, rather than the normality of home.

The tour visits Birmingham between the 22nd of October to the 2nd of November, and you can combine the show with a stay at the Crown Plaza Birmingham NEC.

Or you can watch the magic unravel on the ice in Sheffield, Dublin, London and Belfast.

Full details of the tour and how to buy tickets can be found here.

We will see you at the ice….

Minnie Mouse ears count as a hat right?
